چکیده
Mosquito vectors are among the well-known group of insect that transmit a number deleterious human diseases, which has pose major public health challenges affecting development poorest countries in world. Vector control is therefore an essential requirement these diseases. The emergence insecticide resistance and their effects on non-target population environment necessitated urgent search for new improved vector methods ecofriendly, economical effective as well safe organisms environment. present study aims to access larvicidal efficacy Ocimum gratissimum extracts against Anopheles species larvae. (scent) leaf methanolic extract was obtained using cold method extraction, phytochemical investigation studied simple qualitative analysis biological test determine it properties per WHO standard protocol. percent yield from leaves Occimum 8.14%. Presence alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, steroids, saponins, antraquinones, phenolics glycosides have been observed. revealed remarkable with LC50 LC90 values 4.28 24.40 mg/ml after period 72 hours respectively. This may offer great prospective agents spp considered threat World especially Nigeria. plant tested our showed potent potential be developed natural insecticides.
